Envision Chino – General Plan 2025

City of Chino

The City of Chino is strategically located in the southwest corner of Southern California’s Inland Empire. Long known for its citrus farms and dairies, Chino is now a suburban community with approximately 75,000 people and a diverse and robust economy. The City has hired DC&E to lead a 12-member, multidisciplinary consultant team to update its General Plan and Zoning Code. The updates will take a comprehensive approach to community health by incorporating policies that encourage walkable neighborhoods and support health and human services. Key aspects of the update process include a dozen public workshops; detailed design and policy guidance for three regions of the city where large-scale changes are likely; an Urban Design Element incorporating New Urbanist principles; a Public Health Element that contains policies regarding the relationship between the built environment and public health outcomes; and a strong focus on the energy and water conservation.
