Hughson Subdivision and Zoning Ordinances Update

As a follow-up to DC&E’s work on Hughson’s General Plan Update, DC&E comprehensively updated both the City’s Subdivision Ordinance and its Zoning Ordinance. DC&E reviewed the organization and content of the ordinances for inconsistencies and inadequacies, interviewed City staff to gather input and suggestions for practical improvements, and discussed proposed changes at a joint workshop of the Planning Commission and City Council. The revised Zoning Ordinance moved away from prescriptive and list-based approaches towards broader categories and performance-based standards, in order to provide City staff and decision-makers with clearly defined yet flexible criteria by which to consider development applications. DC&E also completed the CEQA review of the updated ordinances and provided the City with an updated zoning map in GIS.
