Riverbank Army Base Reuse Plan

City of Riverbank

Located at the eastern edge of Riverbank, a growing city of 21,000 people, the Riverbank Army Ammunition Plant (RBAAP) has been a cornerstone of the local economy since 1943. Today, the City is facing the impending closure of the RBAAP and its transition to civilian use, which could result in significant direct and indirect loss of jobs throughout the community. The Riverbank Army Base Reuse Plan is perhaps the single most important opportunity for Riverbank to successfully overcome the closure of the RBAAP and bring about a lasting change in the local economy, avoiding any job loss and expanding Riverbank’s employment base by attracting new businesses to the site. DC&E’s work on the Base Reuse Plan will be grounded in a thorough and up-to-date understanding of the regional market and in-depth input from stakeholders. The Riverbank Army Base Reuse Plan will ensure that the 173-acre property’s transition from federal to private ownership is orderly and successful; that new development avoids conflicts with the surrounding residential uses; and that future job-generating uses reflect the needs and desires of Riverbank residents and business owners.
