Novato residents value their high quality life, enjoying a beautiful natural environment, pleasant residential neighborhoods and a vibrant and innovative local economy. The City has hired DC&E to update its General Plan in an effort to maintain and enhance the Novato’s unique assets. The General Plan Update will be highly participatory, with meaningful public input shaping a Plan that will address the needs, goals and desires of the community over the next 20 years. Key issues for the General Plan Update include identifying additional sites for housing, accommodating commercial growth, promoting environmental sustainability, exploring transportation alternatives and enhancing community identity. DC&E will address these issues through an innovative work program that will build from recently prepared City policy documents and utilize accessible and user-friendly materials for public workshops. As part of the General Plan Update DC&E will update Novato’s Housing Element and will prepare a detailed community-based vision for redevelopment in the North Redwood Boulevard area of the city.
