Sierra Ski Ranch Expansion Visual Analysis

U.S. Forest Service and El Dorado County

Serving as a member of a team subcontracted to Brown and Caldwell, David Early prepared portions of the visual impact analysis for a major expansion of the Sierra Ski Ranch ski area. Issues included visibility of ski runs and access roads from scenic corridors such as Highways 50 and 89 and impacts on views from scenic trails. The assessment program included hand-drawn sections through the landscape showing visibility of specific areas and computer-generated and photo-montage simulations for impact assessment. The final report was formatted to meet both County and U.S. Forest Service requirements.*
