Long Range Development Plan EIR

University of California at Davis

Long Range Development Plan EIR for the University of California at Santa Cruz, as a subconsultant to URS Corporation. DC&E was responsible for evaluating the potential impacts to visual resources, public services, utilities and land use of UCSC’s new Long Range Development Plan. A careful analysis of visual impacts was particularly important, given the high value that both the campus and the community place on the natural beauty of the UCSC landscape. DC&E created a series of visual simulations of proposed new development from numerous vantage points. Based on these simulations, DC&E analyzed the proposed massing of new structures, shadows created by the proposed projects, and potential impacts on the aesthetic fabric of the campus. DC&E also discussed additional light and glare from new playing fields and the potential for light and glare to affect residential areas off campus.
