Miller Avenue Precise Plan

City of Mill Valley

As one of two main corridors leading into Mill Valley’s Downtown area, Miller Avenue plays a key part in defining Mill Valley's community character. The City is completing the Miller Avenue Plan to identify how it will accommodate affordable housing, improve mobility, provide civic space, and uphold the principles of sustainability along this corridor. DC&E facilitated a series of workshops to receive public input on alternative streetscape designs and urban design possibilities for the corridor. The streetscape design workshops explored modifications to the roadway configuration and the addition of enhanced amenities for bicyclists and pedestrians. The urban design workshops presented new development standards and design guidelines to maintain and enhance the unique qualities of the corridor. DC&E prepared an Illustrative Plan that integrated proposed streetscape improvements and development standards into a single visual representation of possible improvements for Miller Avenue and also prepared an animated three-dimensional visual simulation of the plan to demonstrate how the proposed development standards and streetscape improvements would help to create a positive gateway to city and a quality urban experience.
