Walnut Creek BART Transit Village Plan EIR
City of Walnut Creek
Walnut Creek Transit Lifestyles Associates proposes to construct a mixed-use transit oriented development (TOD) project at the existing 16.8-acre Walnut Creek BART station. The proposed project includes 600 residential units, 19,000 square feet of retail space, 30,000 square feet of commercial office space integrated into a new parking structure containing 951 parking spaces, and a new bus transfer area. With its overall development density and integration of uses, this project would be the first of its kind in Contra Costa County. DC&E is responsible for completing the project EIR, which will involve close coordination with the City of Walnut Creek and BART throughout the environmental review process. Based on the nature of the project and its location in relation to Downtown Walnut Creek, the BART station, I-680, and several major arterial roadways, key issues to be examined in the EIR include traffic and site circulation, noise, air quality, and site design. DC&E will lead a team of technical subconsultants, including DMJM Harris, which will be completing an access study to examine a range of site circulation alternatives.
