Blackberry Creek Restoration

City of Berkeley

Wolfe Mason Associates was retained to develop alternative design concepts for daylighting' the culverted Blackberry Creek adjacent to Thousand Oaks School. WMA prepared an implementation and maintenance program for restoring the stream and improving existing drainage and flooding problems on the site. The restoration facilitated innovative, on-going environmental education programs at the school as well as a flexible contractor. This award-winning design has been featured in numerous trade magazines as a successful model for community involvement and innovative stormwater management. This project won the Northern California Chapter ASLA Merit Award in 1997.
