Masonic Home Golf Course Development Plan

Masonic Homes of California

DC&E undertook multiple land use and design studies for the Masonic Home in Union City, leading to a proposal for a golf course on the property. DC&E first created alternative development plans to provide this charitable organization with a long-term vision for its 272-acre site in the foothills. In that process, DC&E developed three separate alternatives with residential, commercial and open space components, while also addressing the City of Union City's Hillside Area Plan and Hillside Preservation Initiative, which govern the type and location of development allowed on the project site. Finally, DC&E designed an environmentally-sensitive golf course for the site. The golf course was intended to provide the Masonic Home with a visionary development approach that respects the natural features of the site, the historical buildings and the existing palm-lined entry, while also providing a much-needed community resource and an income source for the Masonic Home.
