DC&E prepared the schematic landscape design for a project on the corner of 16th Street and Campbell Street in West Oakland, ,on the site of an old light bulb manufacturer. The project, designed by Levy Design Partners Inc., will rehabilitate the existing warehouse into approximately 92 condominiums, and will add 40 more units through new construction on the current parking lot. DC&E’s schematic plan utilizes the open space defined by the buildings for social gatherings and passive uses, creating both a recreational and a visual amenity for residents. The landscape planting plan adapts to a variety of micro-climates from a shady and lush entryway design to a parking lot courtyard design with ornamental fruit trees and a culinary herb garden. Construction is planned to begin in the summer of 2006.
