Frog Pad Park
City of Hercules
Frog Pad Park is a large park in one of Hercules's New Urbanist neighborhoods along the San Pablo Bay waterfront. DC&E prepared a schematic design, construction documents, detailed construction specifications and cost estimates for a one-acre corner of the park, along Sycamore and Willits Streets. Frog Pad Park is located adjacent to residential development and the design required balancing public access needs with the desires of the surrounding neighborhood. DC&E's design maintains visual access to the park from the adjacent residential areas and incorporates creek and wetland themes while protecting the adjacent riparian habitat areas. As part of the schematic design process, DC&E's landscape architects and landscape designers considered creative solutions to issues such as links to the surrounding neighborhood, interface with the creek, accessibility, gateway designs and on-site drainage. The new park opened in the fall of 2008.
