Comanche Creek Vegetation Management Plan
City of Chico
DC&E prepared a Vegetation Management Plan for a 0.6-mile long segment of the Comanche Creek riparian corridor in southwest Chico. DC&E prepared a plan that offers a management framework to conserve, rehabilitate, enhance and protect the native resources of Comanche Creek. The Plan focuses on restoration and enhancement of the existing vegetation zones, including riparian and valley oak woodlands, non-native grasslands, riparian marsh, potential seasonal wetlands and potential valley elderberry longhorn beetle habitat. Enhancement measures will heighten the unique aesthetics and habitat function of each zone and decrease long-term maintenance requirements by enabling the site to reach a natural equilibrium. The Plan will also protect intact areas of native vegetation, control and work to eradicate highly invasive exotic plants, and encourage the spread and natural succession of native communities on the site.
