Water Efficient Demonstration Garden

Santa Clara Valley Water District

DC&E prepared an award-winning Master Plan for a Water Efficient Demonstration Garden for the Santa Clara Valley Water District and is now preparing construction documents for Phase I of the Master Plan. The garden will provide an educational resource to the public, a test facility to explore and evaluate various plant materials and irrigation methods, and a learning center that demonstrates landscape alternatives that are environmentally sound and cost effective, focusing on both gardening for water conservation and the use of recycled water in the landscape. DC&E’s approach to the project is based on sustainable landscape design and construction, use of native plants and water conservation, an emphasis on education and interpretations, creative stormwater management and project constructability. This project won a Northern California Chapter ASLA Merit Award in 2005.
