Measure A Committee Facilitation

City of Alameda

David Early facilitated a committee of residents of the City of Alameda in the committee's work to plan a series of workshops to consider Alameda's Measure A. Measure A, adopted in 1973, prohibits construction of new multiple dwelling units in Alameda. While some residents feel that this ordinance has been instrumental in preserving the city's character, others are concerned that the ordinance limits the city's ability to provide needed affordable housing and transit-oriented development. The Alameda City Council determined that it would be appropriate to stage one or several community workshops to discuss the pros and cons of Measure A, and appointed a committee of six residents to plan the workshop series. David Early facilitated the committee in its work, and DC&E prepared a final report with recommendations regarding the committee's conclusions.
