New Urbanism & General Plans Seminar

Riverside County

David Early taught a course on “New Urbanism in General Plans for Growing Cities and Towns” to Riverside County planning staff. The course covered New Urbanist principles and smart growth strategies that can be applied to planning in Riverside County. Participants also took part in a small group exercise using large maps and game pieces as a way to become familiar with the urban design concepts discussed in the course. Staff reported that the course was instrumental in helping them to understand the large amount of growth occurring in the County within the context of new urbanism, sustainability and regionalism.
