Smart Growth Design Guidelines

San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG)

DC&E is leading a consultant team preparing smart growth design guidelines for the entire San Diego region. The design guidelines will build on SANDAG’s Regional Comprehensive Plan, which emphasizes the importance of high-quality design in achieving the principles of smart growth. The guidelines will serve as an inspiration for developers, designers, local governments and citizens throughout the San Diego region. They will also serve as a tool that SANDAG can use to evaluate projects for potential funding through its Smart Growth Incentive Program. Local jurisdictions will also be encouraged to use the guidelines as a starting point for their own planning efforts, and as a reference to understand the key principles of creating great places.
