South San Francisco BART Station Concept Plan
San Mateo County Transit Authority
DC&E prepared a Concept Plan to identify opportunities for enhanced pedestrian, bicycle and shuttle bus access to the South San Francisco BART Station. DC&E worked with SamTrans, BART, the cities of South San Francisco and Colma, and community stakeholders to develop design solutions to promote transit use and pedestrian access and create a vital activity node at the BART Station. The Plan prioritized improvements and provided preliminary cost estimates.
For a new street that will access the station, DC&E designed a street section that distances two lanes of traffic from existing homes that back onto the new R-O-W. Should capacity need to increase, a Phase II street section will accommodate two new lanes with no changes needing to be made to Phase I curbs or street trees.
