Union City BART Station Joint Planning Study

City of Union City, BART and PG&E

DC&E completed a Joint Planning Study to identify the types and locations of potential development around the Union City BART Station. The site, which includes both the BART Station and an obsolete PG&E pipeyard, provides a logical location for higher-density, mixed-use development that takes advantage of existing and potential multi-modal transit operations on the site. Through the joint planning effort, DC&E identified site design and parking configurations and evaluated new development and transportation alternatives that aided in the creation of a transit-oriented downtown for Union City. DC&E also facilitated a consensus-building process among the study sponsors in order to create design, funding and development alternatives that could be successfully implemented in light of policy, market and financial realities.
