Cambria Design Plan

DC&E developed the Cambria Design Plan to maintain and enhance the architectural and natural identity of the charming coastal and historic community of Cambria, while allowing appropriate and innovative new development. DC&E addressed the potential conflict between historic identity and new development through the utilization and creation of commercial and residential design guidelines, an open space and circulation plan and resource conservation guidelines. Specific design elements of this plan included a streetscape plan for Main Street, a public open space design plan for each of the two villages that comprise the downtown, and gateway designs for the main entries into the downtown. These products were defined through a community visioning process that focused on the existing context and the identity of the community as a whole.
