California Avenue Master Plan

Fresno Housing Authority

DC&E worked with the Fresno Housing Authority and local community members on a community-based, action-oriented Master Plan to facilitate the revitalization of the California Avenue corridor and to create a balanced mix of uses consistent with this West Fresno neighborhood’s transit-oriented potential. DC&E’s Master Plan recommended public realm improvements for the streetscape, gateways, publicly-accessible plazas and mini-parks. It also provided design guidance for new private development. The Master Plan is based on a framework of automobile, bicycle and pedestrian linkages that support and enhance the City’s existing transportation network. This project won the California Chapter APA Award for Outstanding Neighborhood Planning in 2008.
