Southwest Chico Neighborhood Plan
City of Chico
DC&E is leading a planning process for Southwest Chico, an established neighborhood with tree-lined blocks of historic bungalows adjacent to Chico’s downtown core. The genesis and key features of the Neighborhood Plan were developed during a multi-day charrette, which was held on location within the Neighborhood Plan Area. The Plan will support pedestrian and bicycle connections to downtown Chico, improved streetscapes within the neighborhood and creek restoration along Little Chico Creek and Comanche Creek. The Plan will also recommend appropriate measures to integrate new development into the Southwest Neighborhood. These measures include design guidelines for new types of development such as live/work residential on underutilized industrial lands and improvements to businesses along Park Avenue, a major arterial that runs through the center of the Plan Area. This project won the Sacramento Valley Section APA Award for Outstanding Neighborhood Planning, 2009.
